What are some of the options that people have used for where to put the wired USB port? I have seen some posts about routing it to the glovebox or to the armrest center console. Has anyone drilled a hole in the accessory pocket under the radio to route the wire through there?
Also, will that port provide power? If I connect a phone to it, will it charge the phone? Similarly, if I connected a magsafe charger to it, will the USB port provide enough power to charge my phone?
I installed the kit over the weekend. It was incredibly easy & I got the answer to my question. Yes, the USB port will provide power to charge the phone via direct connection or a magsafe charger. I routed it into the glovebox because that was easier than the center console, although, the center console would have been pretty simple as well.
I thought about something like this. Find the plate that fits and install under start button.
@Kip Quiram just did mine a couple days ago. I basically used the same dash mount usb port and put it above the center diff lock button to the right of the steering wheel.
