Will my original backup camera work?
Yes, you can maintain your system in CarPlay and use the backup camera in your 2014-2019 4Runner. Our 2014-2019 Toyota 4Runner Hamilton Upgrade Kit for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto makes it exactly as if your vehicle shipped from the factory with CarPlay.
Does this unit use my factory microphone?
Yes, our 2014-2019 Toyota 4Runner Apple CarPlay Upgrade Kit for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integrates into your factory microphone. You will not lose any microphone quality.
Does it have wired and wirless Carplay and Android Auto?
Our 2014-2019 Toyota 4Runner Apple Carplay upgrade module has built-in wired and wireless CarPlay, as well as wired and wireless Android Auto software features. The wired CarPlay/Android auto will be through a new USB port we provide.
Will my steering wheel controls work in CarPlay?
Yes, this system integrates seamlessly into your car. Your steering wheel controls will continue to function in your 2014-2019 4Runner.
How do I know if I have Panasonic (Most Common) or Pioneer (Rare)?
On the front of your original radio in the middle on the bottom bit of plastic is a small code in white numbers/letters. If it starts with a "P" you have the rare Pioneer version. If it starts with a number, you have the common Panasonic version.
Can I use FM, XM, or AM radio while CarPlay/Android Auto is showing on the screen? Are all factory audio channels still available?
You can use your factory radio channels and have CarPlay/Android Auto showing on your screen with the Hamilton Upgrade Kits with one important limitation: Please note that the factory radio channels are sealed channels. This means Siri cannot talk through these channels.
When you are streaming audio via CarPlay (e.g. Spotify, Apple Music, Sirius App, etc.), your music and Siri/Navigation will come out of your vehicle speakers mixed together.
However, while using the sealed factory radio channels, you will only be able to hear radio audio. System audio (Siri, navigation sounds, phone calls) cannot be mixed into the factory radio channels.
Note: You will not be able to use the AUX port for any external media devices liked DACs or MP3 players. The Hamilton Upgrade Kit consumes this audio input for CarPlay/Android Auto.
