Do I need to connect the OBD2 Wire?

  • Most likely, you do. If you have a 2009-11 RX w Mouse YES, 2009-11 RX w no knob/no mouse YES, 2012-15 RX Mouse YES, 2012-15 RX Knob NO.

The OBD2 wire is included in your kit (see your specific wiring diagram available at hamiltonmotorcompany.com/pages/manuals). It connects from your factory OBD2 port to the main Hamilton harness.

It helps us interact with your factory vehicle signals.

  • What is the purpose of the obd connection?

  • Yes, it allows us to grab vehicle signals on the older RX for factory vehicle controls like reverse camera trigger, etc.

  • So for models which require making the OBD2 connection, what is the recommended solution for reading DTCs? Is it possible to install an app on the Hamilton device which can read them?

  • I'm also curious about this. I'd love to have access to the data. There already are plenty of apps that can display it. Just need to have th OBD2 data broadcasted.
