The Hamilton Conversion Kit for Tacoma has built-in wireless CarPlay and Android Auto.
Hamilton equips the device with an underlying operating system available outside of CarPlay and Android Auto. You can install a 4G SIM card in the device (we recommend T-Mobile) or you can connect it to your phone's hotspot when not using CarPlay. On the Hamilton underlying OS you can download apps that may not be available including streaming apps and other features (always obey local traffic laws regarding video usage on device). This kit is plug-n-play for any Tacoma with the touch-key style radio, JBL or non-JBL, and we fully support the JBL amp.
If your Tacoma has the physical push-button radio (the lower trim version), the kit is still compatible, but the dash opening needs to be widened to fit it. All the wiring is plug-n-play, it's just the dash cutout that requires modification.
Because we completely replace your factory radio, there are a few feature differences to note:
- The Hamilton Conversion Kit for Tacoma completely replaces your factory tuner. We add a new tuner for FM radio. The factory XM and AM radios are no longer accessible. To use XM, you can download the Sirius XM app on your phone and stream via CarPlay or download on the Hamilton Conversion Kit and stream via 4G/Hot Spot.
- Factory maintenance reminders will remain on the gauge cluster. Any Toyota Logbook apps from the original head unit will no longer be accessible.
- The original compass (N/S/E/W) that shows on your dash is from the factory head unit. Eliminating the factory head unit with the Hamilton Conversion Kit will cancel this feature.

This was an install for my 2017 Toyota Tacoma with the JBL stereo system. The plug-in play feature of the conversion kit is very simple to do and the video was very helpful.
I cleaned up the wires a bit before I put them inside the dash with some zip ties to make it a cleaner install for later
I researched a few other companies that sold stereos and then sold the conversion adapters that you need for the unit. Hamilton motor company is very fair priced and the product came out looking outstanding. It looks like it was an original install from the factory.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great Upgrade for My Tacoma
I installed the Hamilton Conversion Kit in my Tacoma and I’m extremely happy with the upgrade. The 10-inch screen completely modernizes the interior, and having wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto makes a huge difference in everyday driving.
The screen is responsive, the graphics look great, and the system works well with the factory steering wheel controls and backup camera. I also really like that it has plenty of storage and the ability to run apps directly on the unit.
Installation was pretty straightforward, especially with the instructional videos, although I definitely recommend taking your time with the wiring and connections. Everything fit well and once installed, it gave my Tacoma a much more modern feel.
I considered several cheaper options, but I’m glad I went with Hamilton. The build quality, features, warranty, and customer support make it worth the extra money.
Overall, this is one of the best upgrades I’ve made to my Tacoma. Highly recommended! 🚘🔥
The unit is excellent so far. Better resolution for my rearview camera. All the Android Auto features are a huge improvement. I'd give 5 stars if it could use my XM antenna, but at least I knew that shortcoming before buying it.

Installation was easy and quick, Apple CarPlay works great. But just a few things…speed limit display is gone and tried getting it back through the customizing option but won’t work, backup camera quality isn’t as clear (not a big deal), and my forward/repeat button got reversed. Anyone else have these issues?

Installation was very easy and sounds good. Just like CarPlay. But a few things…my digital dashboard may have been affected. My speed limit display is gone and tried to get it back in the settings but won’t work, my visual on the backup camera isn’t as clear (not that big of a deal), and skipping/replay button for my music are reversed. Has anyone experienced any of these?

Shipping was fast and setup was quick. I ended up opting to add a T mobile 4G sim and it works great! There is room for improvement with the UI (for instance an ability to move the downloaded apps around on the apps screen and Google Chrome not being able to be updated) but those were not deal breakers for me. I had to contact customer service over those minor details but they were quick to respond and were very helpful and professional. Android auto has been solid and after some tweaking to the DSP audio settings and mic gain it's all working seamlessly. Overall, it works great compared to my stock non JBL head unit in my 19 TRD sport. Would highly recommend if your are on the fence for getting one.

The install was fairly straight forward although I would recommend a pro to do it. The unit is fast and works seamlessly with my Tacoma's electronics with no glitches. I love the manually operated controls and the screen size is perfect for me. I would highly recommend it to anyone who is looking to upgrade their stock head unit.
I’m not an IT guy, but I was able to install it by myself. That’s how easy it is. This is a big upgrade to my 2017 Tacoma with big screen. I love it so far.
I love the radio but there are some aspects I wish or changed. It does not keep the same volume every time I come back to my vehicle and start it. Currently I'm having problems with the SIM card not working
Except for the unit not working previously, the replacement unit is working. Would have been nice to know that a SIM card should have been installed first.
