2013 Lexus GX 460 install - no camera, no carplay screen

  • I've installed the Hamilton carplay unit in my 2013 Lexus GX 460, however I am not getting a carplay screen and the backup camera no longer works in reverse.

I see the unit in the carplay settings on my iphone, but the Aux screen just shows "playing".

I took a screenshot of my iphone to show it was connected. See below. Weird thing is it also took a screenshot of what it was supposedly showing on the display but all it shows in the vehicle is the "playing" screen.

What could I have missed? I followed the 2013 specific supplemental wiring diagram.

  • Also I have tried to long press the voice button on the steering wheel but nothing happens. Audio via the aux screen and CarPlay output on the phone works. But the vehicle display still only shows "playing"

  • For the 2009-13 Lexus GX the wiring is a bit different from the 2014-2019, as you mentioned. Can you open it back up and send me some pictures of your wiring or can you open it during a time we can send pictures back and forth with you?

You may be missing the blue LVDS cable or maybe your DIP swithces are not correct. Please call customer service or email us so we can get you specifics.

  • I have sent an email and a follow up with the following info. Posting here to make sure you get the info.

    ---

Here are some more images. The burgundy LVDS out to light blue on back of top/screen unit is connected.
You can see dip switches in the image - are those correct?
OEM Cam is connected to Camera yellow connectors.
There was no reference to this “Bus” interface on the main harness, so it is not connected anywhere.

  • Hunter from support replied to set dipswitch 4 in the off position. I followed this process but am seeing the same behavior.

    1) Turn off the Car.
    2) Change the dipswitch position.
    3) Disconnect the main power (big white connector) of the Hamilton unit for 15 seconds.
    4) Reconnect the main power.
    5) Turn on your car and test.

  • Reset dip switch 4 back to on and retested after getting a call from Hamilton. No luck.

  • Warranty replacement unit received and installed. Everything is working great! Thanks so much for the great support.
