  • You should also have another button next to your rotary knob labeled "APPS." This means your car is the 2018-2019 infotainment version. If yours says, "INFO" instead of "APPS," you need the version for the 2014-2017 Infiniti QX80

Frequently Asked Questions

Did the 2018-2019 Infiniti QX80 ship from the factory with CarPlay?

While the 2018-2019 Infiniti QX80 did not ship from the factory with CarPlay and Android Auto, you can add it directly onto the OEM vehicle screen with the Hamilton Upgrade Kit. This device installs into your original Infiniti screen, giving you quality wireless and wired CarPlay and Android Auto.

What tools are required to install the Hamilton Upgrade Kit on my 2018-2019 Infiniti QX80?

We recommend the following tools:

  • 10mm socket and extensions
  • Socket wrench
  • Large Philips head screwdriver
  • Small Philips head screwdriver
  • Towels for protection
  • Plastic trim pry tool (optional)

Will there be any changes to my 360 degree camera system (OEM equipped) or safety features?

No, there will not be any changes. The OEM 360 camera system (if equipped) will continue to display and hide under normal parameters, including if you are using CarPlay/Android Auto. Your factory buttons to engage the system will continue to work also.

How does the Hamilton Upgrade Kit play audio? Will this make any changes to my factory radio?

The Hamilton Upgrade Kit uses your factory Bluetooth channel to play audio, and thus retains your original audio quality, even if you have premium audio packages installed, as the audio is not routed through the Hamilton system but through your original car's radio.

While streaming audio from your phone (including while using Spotify, Sirius XM app, Pandora, or any other music app), CarPlay/Android Auto navigation sounds and system sounds will mix into your car speakers.

You can play audio through your factory XM, FM, AM, or CD players with CarPlay/Android Auto navigation showing on screen. However, when you use these channels, the Navigation sounds cannot mix into your original audio channels. These are considered factory "sealed" audio channels.
