Yes, you can listed to your original XM/FM/AM radio while CarPlay or Android Auto features are showing on the factory screen. However, there is an important limitation: when listening to your factory radio channels, navigation sounds and Siri cannot talk into your original radio channels. This means when you are using your XM/FM/AM radio channels, while you can see CarPlay or Android Auto on the screen, you will not be able to hear CarPlay sounds.
Of course, while listening to music streaming from your phone you will hear all navigation and notification sounds from your car speakers (this includes while using the Sirius XM app).
