You can use your factory radio channels and have CarPlay/Android Auto showing on your screen with the Hamilton Upgrade Kits with one important limitation: Please note that the factory radio channels are sealed channels. This means Siri cannot talk through these channels.
When you are streaming audio via CarPlay (e.g. Spotify, Apple Music, Sirius App, etc.), your music and Siri/Navigation will come out of your vehicle speakers mixed together.
However, while using the sealed factory radio channels, you will only be able to hear radio audio. System audio (Siri, navigation sounds, phone calls) cannot be mixed into the factory radio channels.
Note: You will not be able to use the AUX mode for any external media devices liked DACs or MP3 players. The Hamilton Upgrade Kit consumes this audio input for CarPlay/Android Auto.
Extremely simple and easy wiring and setup, flawless integration of factory equipment and Apple car play features, easily a 10/10 product would highly recommend to anyone, install took me a total of 20 minutes in the parking lot, initialization another 5 minutes. Well worth the money, very smooth OS, faster than my oem 2019 GX460 equipment
Works great. Easy to install in my GX and retains the OEM look of the factory screen. I was a bit nervous about bolting on a giant new screen. The factory screen is plenty big enough and the CarPlay module does what I need I to do. Took me about a day to really figure out how to use it and manipulate the controls. The manual says to use the "AUX" input on your radio, but I find the bluetooth connection works just as well.

Does everything it says it will do and does it well. Only drawback is how it handles the phone, if you are listening to XM or something else from the OEM sound system you can't answer/use the phone via bluetooth unless you manually switch to the aux input. Other than that, great.

Excellent equipment! One very minor concern: echo on telephone calls.
It made a huge difference in the driving experience, and I was able to install it in less than an hour.
It’s great but I have to toggle between my old system and this new system to get the sound to play . Seems it’s connected to Bluetooth automatically and if I put in the wired connection it requires me to reconnect Bluetooth for any sound. Installer error ? Overall I’m happy with it just annoyed by that bit

Very good, everything works, but i can't get my messages to announce thru my audio.
My harness in the back appears different. Couldn’t install.
So far, it has worked as designed. I am having some trouble adjusting the volume of the navigation narrator, and volume on phone calls.
Fairly easy to install, at a reasonable price and I’m really happy with the results. The YouTube installation video was absolutely key. If you follow it, it’s a breeze. There are some limitations to the product…. You don’t get multi-touch and some aspects on some apps are a little slower to respond…. But, it’s really easy to live with those limits.
I have a 2018 Lexus GX460. I have been frustrated that there is not map updates available for the 2018. I also wanted Car Play in my next vehicle. Now I can keep my 2018 and always have up to date google maps and Car Play.
The Install Process worked exactly as the video showed. I had no issues and it took me about 70 minutes to complete. I took my time and watched the video as I did it which was very helpful.
The only issue I had was when I tried to connect to Car Play it would not work. After trying everything multiple times myself, I finally call customer service for help. The solution was the Car Play was not turned on in settings for some reason. We turned it on and it immediately worked flawlessly. The moral of that story is, Just Call Customer Service If You Have An Issue. They Will Figure It Out For You. Don't be like me and waste 45 minutes trying to figure it out myself.

All Factory Settings work as stated. Very easy to switch back and forth between Hamilton and Factory Screen and settings.
Siri works great to! Just say Hey Siri take me to Costco on Google Maps and it inputs the directions and off you go! Just say Hey Siri, play Classic Rock on Apple Music and it does.

I bought a 2018 Lexus gx 460. The only thing i was missing is car play. Hamilton’s upgrade kit fixed that issue perfectly. I had it installed by a 3rd party. Works perfectly and I love it.
I have been wanting carplay for sometime and didn't want to get rid of my GX just to get it. I work for Lexus and I installed this unit a few weeks ago by myself and it's been amazing! I have recommended this product to every client that I can! Absolutely fantastic!
I have postponed a vehicle upgrade with getting this CarPlay unit. I watched the YouTube instructions and with the exception of misplacing one bolt it went flawlessly.
Install took me less than an hour and the hardware is very well built. Had a question and customer service replied by email quickly and that resolved my issue. My kids are big fans of the upgrade too!
Great experience start to finish. I was researching the CarPlay upgrade for my GX and Hamilton came highly reviewed as a simple plug and play solution. Extremely fast shipping to my residence in TN. The video instructions were simple and easy to follow. The upgrade works seamlessly with the OEM interface and I wish I did this a long time ago! I have not had the need to contact support for any issues but good to know they have a US based support team.
I'm not the best at DIY projects but the video and product was very explanatory and had everything installed in less than 3 hours. This greatly enhanced the in-car experience and we're very happy with the improvement!

This works perfectly in my wife's 2015 GX460. We've had the car since new and always loved it but wished it had Carplay. Now that we are giving it to our daughter for her first vehicle, we wanted to add that extra convenience and safety of being able to use Google Maps without looking down at her phone, or using her phone to change music. Install was fairly easy and straight forward, especially after watching the installation video, then following along with it during the install.
Overall, my experience was excellent. From shipping to installation and then a 2500-mile road trip I had no issues, worked flawlessly. The installation videos, wiring harness and general directions were on point. Took me about 1.5 hours to complete.
When I received my Hamilton kit I was very impressed with how everything was packaged and labeled. I don't think I could have done the installation myself without the installation video on YouTube. The video was extremely detailed and helpful. The kit works great, and it is so convenient to use the OEM display instead of looking at my phone. Great product A++
So far so good. Installed easy following the video (I suggest the video, not the pdf instructions), and fired right up. I’m still getting used to the audio portion and didn’t realize you have to unconnected Bluetooth from the car, but overall this upgrade is tops.
