Yes, we support both wireless and wired CarPlay and Android Auto. You can access your original factory OS at any time by long-holding your voice speech/menu button (this button may vary model to model; please check your pairing and setup video on our manuals page).
We employ some of the finest engineers in the world in this aftermarket CarPlay/Android Auto space. We do our testing here in the USA. This means we leverage our partnerships to locate American vehicles and gather all of our data off American cars. This way, we can be certain we do not disrupt factory equipment.
For our electronics, we use gold-plated PCB technology and premium components throughout. We use high quality harnesses and connectors to minimize the risk of damaging your wiring during installation and to protect against wiring faults. Also, we use a top-of-the-line reputable chipset that is specifically tailored for automotive applications.
You can use your factory radio channels and have CarPlay/Android Auto showing on your screen with the Hamilton Upgrade Kits with one important limitation: Please note that the factory radio channels are sealed channels. This means Siri cannot talk through these channels.
When you are streaming audio via CarPlay (e.g. Spotify, Apple Music, Sirius App, etc.), your music and Siri/Navigation will come out of your vehicle speakers mixed together.
However, while using the sealed factory radio channels, you will only be able to hear radio audio. System audio (Siri, navigation sounds, phone calls) cannot be mixed into the factory radio channels.
Note: You will not be able to use the AUX port for any external media devices liked DACs or MP3 players. The Hamilton Upgrade Kit consumes this audio input for CarPlay/Android Auto.
Playing audio via the factory USB port is not supported while using CarPlay/Android Auto. If you prefer USB, please use wired CarPlay/Android Auto.
I was a little skeptical about putting an aftermarket add-on CarPlay kit in my 2016 Tundra, but went ahead and ordered the Hamilton after reading the reviews.
The installation video was thorough and accurate, and I was able to complete the full install in under 2-1/2 hours. The system works perfectly and has fixed the one complaint I had about my 10 year-old truck (it just hit 20k miles, so it's otherwise like new).
I am going to buy another one to put in my wife's 2018 Highlander so she can also have CarPlay. I highly recommend the Hamilton products!
The unit works like a charm. It doesnt lag compare to the cheaper units you find online. Plus side is being able to keep the factory he's unit while upgrading to have wireless android auto or apple car play.

Drove 6k miles in the past 12 days in my 2016 Tundra. The Hamilton Upgrade kit worked flawlessly using both Carplay & Android Auto. I did have an issue @ first with some apps not being able to go to the previous page. I contacted customer support & they replied to me immediately by sending me links on how to calibrate the screen (which I should've done in the first place). The Upgrade kit is very tuneable. It allows you to adjust different different volume levels, has a built in equalizer, & also allows you to adjust the screen color. I also love that you can easily go back to the factory unit with a short press of a button. This is by far the best way to updatet/modernize your older vehicle. If I could be honest, I enjoyed driving my 06 Tacoma (with an updated Pioneer head unit which has Android auto) over the Tundra. Looks like I'll be parking the Tacoma. This thing is a game changer, absolutely no regrets with the purchase.
Great kit and keeps factory radio
This is a wonderful way to convert your old factory radio with modern electronics. I will say the install video could of been a little slower and more detail as far as installing the ribbons, better camera angle and slowly showing how the clips disengage and engage would of made this a lot less stressful for me, it would of also been better if they offered a service where you ship them your radio and they do all the ribbon and bracket work then ship it back to you to install. At the end of the day after a few mistakes I did get it installed by myself and it's working perfectly but for me it was a stressful install.

This has been a huge step up in our son's 2016 Tundra. Two weeks since installation and he tells us what a difference it has made. Installation took a little over an hour and the videos on the Hamilton site were spit on. Overall a very good experience and I won't hesitate to use them again if I purchase a Tundra or GX that proceeds Car Play as standard equipment.

Great quality hardware, improved the JBL audio with the onboard Hamilton equalizer. 10x better with AA. And still keeps factory interface if you utilize any functions.

I looked at several products before purchasing the Hamilton. After watching everybody’s installation video, it was clear to me that Hamilton had the best most reliable option. Since insulation, I’ve been very happy. The truck still looks like stock yet now I have Apple CarPlay, including all controls from my steering wheel. I was able to do it myself and save some money, but I would say it’s probably not for somebody that is uncomfortable with tearing apart their dash.
My unit arrived in perfect condition and time ! The unit is so beautful installed. What a great experience not only to find a 'great' product but to find an installer that takes pride in craftsmanship. I drove two hours to reach this installation location, LVCA in Las Vegas , which was service in the highest deree. I am blessed and fortunate to have been able to renew my 2017 Tudra .
Bought my Tundra in 2020 and loved everything about my truck but the audio system. The Toyota system in my 2018 Tundra was so hard to just simply stream music that I considered trading it in for one with android auto. Thank you Hamilton for providing this add on to the original head unit. It works fantastic and sounds great!
Granted I was hesitant. The factory screen is small and blah. Putting money into the factory system seemed wrong. I have a real nice phone mount which was working fine for my new iPhone. But the iPhone screen is smaller than the factory’s. Hence installed the Hamilton kit. Great YouTube instructions and a few hours later all done. System works just as described the first time. CarPlay functions flawlessly and quick. Sound is good. Siri, and hands free calling all great. I would highly recommend this upgrade to add CarPlay to existing head unit.
The unit is working great and so nice to have Android Auto and Carplay in the factory stereo. Install was pretty easy, just took my time and watched the videos closely.

I'll start by saying unfortunately the unit was incompatible with the radio in my Tundra. (SR Model) It turned out my unit does not have an "APP" button on the faceplate. Although I was disappointed to say the least, the customer service I received was fantastic. The reps I delt with were EXCELLENT! Unfortunately, I didn't record their names, or I'd give them a public well done.

Following the detailed installation video, I was able to remove and install the upgrade kit with no issues. The only complaint is that the wire on the Bluetooth transmitter seem much shorter than the video showed so I could not place it where instructed,but it still works great! Very happy with it...Thanks

Highly recommended. Installation instructions are great. Hamilton Motors may want to advise stronger regarding the ribbon cables and if the locking tab dislodges to remove the ribbon cable and reinsert the locking tab into the base at a 45 degree angle. That worked well.
