Yes, we support both wireless and wired CarPlay and Android Auto. You can access your original factory OS at any time by long-holding your voice speech/menu button (this button may vary model to model; please check your pairing and setup video on our manuals page).
We employ some of the finest engineers in the world in this aftermarket CarPlay/Android Auto space. We do our testing here in the USA. This means we leverage our partnerships to locate American vehicles and gather all of our data off American cars. This way, we can be certain we do not disrupt factory equipment.
For our electronics, we use gold-plated PCB technology and premium components throughout. We use high quality harnesses and connectors to minimize the risk of damaging your wiring during installation and to protect against wiring faults. Also, we use a top-of-the-line reputable chipset that is specifically tailored for automotive applications.
You can use your factory radio channels and have CarPlay/Android Auto showing on your screen with the Hamilton Upgrade Kits with one important limitation: Please note that the factory radio channels are sealed channels. This means Siri cannot talk through these channels.
When you are streaming audio via CarPlay (e.g. Spotify, Apple Music, Sirius App, etc.), your music and Siri/Navigation will come out of your vehicle speakers mixed together.
However, while using the sealed factory radio channels, you will only be able to hear radio audio. System audio (Siri, navigation sounds, phone calls) cannot be mixed into the factory radio channels.
Note: You will not be able to use the AUX port for any external media devices liked DACs or MP3 players. The Hamilton Upgrade Kit consumes this audio input for CarPlay/Android Auto.
Playing audio via the factory USB port is not supported while using CarPlay/Android Auto. If you prefer USB, please use wired CarPlay/Android Auto.
Received this unit for my 2016 Toyota Avalon yesterday and I’m totally stoked, I already installed it (took roughly 4 hours) mainly because I was going step by step with the installation video and I had a small issue with one of the ribbon cable tabs coming off, but I called them and they totally saved my rear end! So far so good- still tinkering with it…. calibrating the screen and such BUT ITS ALREADY 1,000% better than the stock radio! I absolutely love it!!!!
The video instructions were great! My brother installed this in my daughter’s 2018 Toyota Avalon. He is very techy. I do think at times the instructions could have had a better angle on what the instructor was specifically talking about.
I installed the Hamilton CarPlay upgrade on my 2016 Toyota Avalon XLE. I have had it for about 2 weeks or about 250 miles. I feel like I can now post a proper review. To begin , this kit works in tandem with my plug and play amp that I had installed prior made by Beatsonic model ENA-2T1. When it comes to the installation, it was all pretty much like the instructional video but make sure you are EXTREMELY careful with the ribbon clips as one of them came off and it took me about 2 hrs to somehow get it back in place and get it to latch. Once installed back in my car ,I was delighted when CarPlay came on the screen!..it looks great and the resolution was better than I expected. I initially had touchscreen accuracy issues but found in the website help center how to calibrate the touchscreen and once I did, it made a huge difference! Now very accurate and precise touch input. Having lived with it daily for 2 weeks , I am very pleased with my purchase, well worth the money and the whole experience feels like it was from factory. Immediately made my car feel modern and inviting. If you have an Avalon and feel like the only thing missing is CarPlay…this is the way to go.
I just installed the system and it has been a absolute wonderful upgrade. I purchased a 2018 hybrid Avalon for the family to use. There a five drivers in my house, all Android users, and we all use this car at various time to take advantage of the fuel efficiency. Once everyone understood how it is integrated with the OEM controls, it quickly became second nature for ease of use. The best part is that it is wireless unlike two of my other Toyotas. In my earlier years I was my friends and families go to for car audio upgrades, so I was pretty comfortable doing the install. I do feel the video from Hamilton made that much more painless.
On a separate note, and this is not related to this product, but you might want to consider a digitizer upgrade from the OEM. I found the outer edges of the screen lacks the sensitivity needed what touching it, and is noted in several reviews of this make

I bought this about 3 weeks ago for my 2018 Toyota Avalon. I followed the installation video/instructions, which were detailed and very easy to follow. I had it up and running a few hours later and once I disconnected the car's factory Bluetooth from my phone, it was smooth sailing. I still use my car's built-in backup camera, original touchscreen monitor, steering wheel buttons and media buttons and knobs. It's definitely the way to go if you're wanting to add Android Auto or Apple CarPlay to your car. I'm just so, so, so impressed! Hamilton Auto is an excellent business that I will recommend to anyone who's vehicle they cover!

This is a pretty great unit for retaining factory functionality and adding carplay. I have a 2016 Toyota Avalon Hybrid Limited with the JBL factory amplified system. With this plug-n-play unit I was able to retain all of my factory functions and sound system while adding carplay. The ribbon cable connections on the factory unit are very delicate and I had to disassemble the unit about 3 times to have them properly seated and connected to make the unit work. During the first couple days I noticed carplay would disconnect intermittently but worked about 80% of the time. I called into Hamilton's customer service and was called back very quickly and the representative stayed on the phone with me until my problems were resolved and went above and beyond in that regard. Since calling in I would say my unit is now working 98% of the time and I am very happy with it. I would recommend this unit to someone who wants to retain everything their factory system offers, while adding CarPlay.
I installed this myself and it was not too difficult. I usually use crutchfield to find a CarPlay solution for my cars but when I searched up my 2015 Avalon Limited, there seemed to be little options for the ones with JBL systems. I also did not want to sacrifice the OEM look. I eventually settled on an aftermarket Android unit that was made to look stock. It was great but had many issues with steering controls and echo on phone calls. Also would cause crackling in my speakers. I was happy to find this and got it working in a few hours. It seems to be responsive and all OEM features work. Also no crackling since it uses the stock radio! The downside is that the screen is smaller than the android unit and feels a bit cramped but I’m willing to sacrifice that in order to keep all original features. I do wish the resolution could be adjusted to make the interface look a little more crisp but understand that there are limitations with the outdated tech. Overall a great product if you are looking to keep your original equipment and reduce compatibility issues. Customer service has been great as well!
Kit is a great solution to add CarPlay capability while retaining the OEM radio. All the original features are still there while many new features are added by CarPlay. Audio through the AUX port seems to sound better than through the head unit's iPod and radio paths. It looks much better than an after-market radio since all the knobs and controls are still there. No ugly replacement panel that doesn't match your car's interior. No need to buy an additional module to the get back the camera and steering wheel controls. Customer service and technical support is excellent.
