We obtain vehicles via our partners here in the USA and perform all of our testing/development on American vehicles to be sure we do not disrupt factory systems and account for long-term durability.
We use a premium processor and gold-plated PCB technology for the circuit board. Our design philosophy is modeled after OEM Toyota/Lexus to ensure we use high-end harnesses and connectors. You can use your factory radio channels and have CarPlay/Android Auto showing on your screen with the Hamilton Upgrade Kits with one important limitation: Please note that the factory radio channels are sealed channels. This means Siri cannot talk through these channels.
When you are streaming audio via CarPlay (e.g. Spotify, Apple Music, Sirius App, etc.), your music and Siri/Navigation will come out of your vehicle speakers mixed together.
However, while using the sealed factory radio channels, you will only be able to hear radio audio. System audio (Siri, navigation sounds, phone calls) cannot be mixed into the factory radio channels.
Note: You will not be able to use the AUX port for any external media devices liked DACs or MP3 players. The Hamilton Upgrade Kit consumes this audio input for CarPlay/Android Auto.
This device supports all models of the 2010-2013 Lexus GX. Some of the original Lexus GX screens had a blue square wire plugged into the back. Others did not. Typically the higher trim levels had this blue square wire called LVDS.
Regardless of whether you have a factory blue LVDS wire plugged into your original screen, you need to connect the Hamilton male blue LVDS wire into your original screen after installing the Hamilton Upgrade Kit. If you had the factory blue square LVDS wire plugged into your original screen from the start, you will plug that original wire into the provided Hamilton female blue LVDS socket (it accepts that factory male wire). Our video shows this fully.
If you have original LVDS wire in the back of your factory screen, you will set DIP 1,4,6,7 ON
If you did NOT have original LVDS wire in the back of your factory screen, you will set DIP 1,6,7 ON (No LVDS)
Hamilton fulfillment will contact you prior to shipping your device to confirm this, and we will set your device appropriately so you do not need to change the DIP switches. You can simply confirm what we have set.
We will confirm this by checking for a picture of your reverse camera. No action is needed from you. Hamilton fulfillment will send you an email. If your reverse camera has no guidelines, you did not have LVDS. If you do have guidelines, your car does have that factory blue LVDS wire.
The same Hamilton Upgrade Kit supports both versions of Lexus GX. The only change is the DIP switches.

Before this, I had tried another Android system from another manufacturer, but unfortunately my experience was not good. It did not work properly with my vehicle, I continued facing issues, and eventually I removed it completely from the car. If I had known about Hamilton earlier, I would not have wasted my money on the Carlinklife Android system. After that experience, I was more careful before trying another solution.
The Hamilton system works very well with my original factory navigation and display, and CarPlay works perfectly without any issues. The installation was straightforward for me because I already knew how to remove the original system and had done it before.
When I first installed the unit, my reverse and side cameras were not working. I contacted Hamilton support, and they quickly guided me through the correct DIP switch settings. After following their instructions, the cameras started working properly.
I later noticed a small screen flickering issue when switching back to the original OEM mode. I contacted support again, and their engineers provided another DIP switch setting. After applying the updated settings, the flickering issue was also resolved.
The support team has been phenomenal, professional, and very responsive. They have an automated ticketing system, which makes the support process organized and easy to follow.
The most impressive part is that CarPlay works perfectly while still using the original 16-year-old Lexus navigation and display system. This is a huge credit to the Hamilton team.

I have a 2013 Lexus GX 460 and this upgrade has been wonderful. Hamilton has great customer service and called me before they shipped to make sure the configureation was right for my specifc back up camera. I used one of the professinal installers recommended by Hamilton. It has been a seamless transition and easy to switch between my orgianl system and the CarPlay. Overall, been great quality.

problem... the radio does not work with carplay
After reading many user reviews on both the Hamilton upgrade kit and the Beat-Sonic upgrade kit, I decided on the Hamilton version because many said installation was easier, the car maintained all its original factory functions and the overall price was lower.
After having the kit now installed for just over a week, I am very satisfied and am loving having android auto at my fingertips now in my older GX. I love being able to completely put my phone away and control everything right from the cars original factory screen.
We have been debating this purchase for too long. My son and I were able to install this unit following the youtube video provided by the company (pro-tip: the car needs to be in neutral with the parking break on before you pull out the dash, my only nit about the video) in under two hours. Works like a charm. I don't know how we lived without it for so long. 10/10 would recommend.
The item is good. It has some quirks(which is to be expected because of how old my system is)but is amazing. The very best thing about the Hamilton company is the customer service. I was blown away
The Hamilton upgrade kit was the best option for upgrading my stock radio to having Android Auto. Installation was pretty plug and play and the unit works well enough. Only issue is that it can be a bit slow to boot up sometimes. But that's a pretty minor issue IMO.
Very happy with the Hamilton upgrade kit for my 2011 Lexus GX 460. While there was not an exact video instructing me how to install this on the 2011 the 2014 video along with the additional wiring diagrams were enough to allow me to do the installation trouble free. Shawn with tech-support was great. I talked to him on two different occasions and he was extremely helpful. Everything with the system works as advertised and I could not be happier with the results. I'm considering doing this on my daughter's 2019 Lexus NX. I have recommended the Hamilton motor company product to several of my coworkers that have older Toyota and Lexus vehicles.
Had it installed professionally by a local car audio place and it works seamlessly with wireless Apple CarPlay. I suppose one could do it themselves but I preferred a pro to do it and not mess up my trim. Great product!
In the end - did get the product working which is great. Shout out to Sean and the whole support team for helping. Unfortunately we spent LOTS of time on the phone troubleshooting but they were patient and great to work with.
Overall the product works as stated. I've got carplay, I've got cameras. Its a HUGE upgrade. I was able to do the install myself in an afternoon who isn't great at working on cars to begin with. I specifically have a 2010 GX460 with the surround cameras and we had to update the unit operating system with a new version to get it to work. Thankfully they have our usecase logged and should be able to more quickly help in the future.
I had a very positive experience working the support team at Hamilton. My 2013 GX is an uncommon version with a front/side/backup camera. There was an issue getting it to work with the Hamilton unit. The customer service was top notch and they got it working. Finally, with CarPlay, my screen has a purpose. Thanks Hamilton!
It works really well and I didn’t need to change from the factory radio. My one complaint is you can’t change back and forth from my phone to the factory, once it goes to the factory you have to turn the car off to get it to go back to blue tooth and pick up your phone
All you need to do is long hold your voice speech button to switch between OEM and Hamilton. If you do not have a voice speech button, use your phone hangup button (long hold 3 seconds).
I got this so I could use google car play and it works perfect! I never used the cars built in navigation and always was using my phones tiny screen to get around. Much better experience now!
