When streaming audio from the phone, all iPhone sounds and navigation sounds play via the car speakers. However, when you have CarPlay showing navigation on the screen while using the factory XM, FM, or AM sealed radio channels, we must use the small speaker to mix CarPlay navigation sounds into your OEM sealed radio channels. It is not possible to otherwise mix iPhone sounds into these original sealed radio channels.
The speaker is thus a cool feature that allows your device to have even more functionality.
Yes, the device is fully touchscreen (while in the Hamilton operating system only), and it supports your original mouse both in the Hamilton OS and the original Lexus OS. You can switch between the two by long-holding the Menu button in front of the mouse.
This device fully preserves Mark Levinson audio quality. We have a full Help Center article that discusses audio setup here using the AUX mode (for CarPlay users). For folks who prefer factory bluetooth instead of AUX mode (we recommend AUX mode by default), you can change a setting in settings to use factory Bluetooth channel. Customer Service can share an article on how to do this.

The Hamilton Conversion Kit retains your original 360 and reverse camera systems. While in reverse/in the parking sequence with the Hamilton Conversion Kit (complete replacement screen), you will not have access to the original informational pane on the right side of the factory screen. This will be occupied by a Hamilton OS graphic. Additionally, the 360 reverse system and reverse camera are enlarged slightly to make them more visible and consistent with newer Lexus vehicles. The Hamilton engineering team elected this off a vote of user feedback to make the 360 and reverse camera systems larger and more consistent with later-model Lexus vehicles. If you require the reverse/parking sequence 360 and backup camera page to be identical to the OEM car, you should consider the Hamilton Upgrade Kit (module that adds CarPlay/Android Auto to your factory screen), as the page is identical to the OEM system on that product.

Car play makes life so much easier and has improved the driving experience considerably on my Lexus LX570
The finished product and functionality is almost perfect. It works as advertised and I doubt there is anything better on the market. The wiring harness is great quality as are the terminal connections. But...speaking as an old technician, IF you're going to use the same wiring harness on different vehicles, then clearly label them, tie the dead ones off and stick it in the box that's also clearly labeled. You can still modify inventory by opening the box and untying dead ends when necessary. THEN, ReDo the video with close ups and going a little slower. Slow is steady, steady is good.
Highest quality, aftermarket modification I’ve ever done and I’ve done a few over the years. This is my second Hamilton product. High-quality connectors, integration with factory menus is seamless and quick. Everything works fast and well. It installed video could use updating. Caution, if you have the wood trim be very careful removing the long trim, wood block, you can easily fracture the lacquer on the wood. Further, the installed video is a little dated. Some of the harnesses are have been updated, but if you take your time, it works very well. 10 out of 10 would recommend!

Good product, but my backup camera is not working.
Great product. The video to install was excellent, but double check the wiring diagram as hooking everything up can go by quickly and wiring connections can be easily missed. The support was great. They got write back to me with further clarification.

I was looking to add Android Auto to our LX and stop using a phone. However, I did not want to affect the LX's dead quietness or functionality by adding something that either rattled, was awkward to operate or stood out of place.
After research, I decided to go with the LX Premium Conversion Kit. I would normally do an install myself, but, I haven't had the truck long and this would be the first time pulling it apart. I would cry if I broke a clip or connector and caused a rattle, so I used one of their listed installers who has experience installing the system on LXs.
After the install, I had a few questions (mostly about AA and the installer addressed them. It took a few minutes in the installers parking lot to get the hang of it, but that was it.
If I have the Lexus system selected, you would not know the Hamilton was installed. A push of the menu button brings it alive.
The integration into the factory controls is spot on. No functional changes, all controls operate both systems, based on the one you have selected. Flipping between the factory and Hamilton system is one button.
There is no degradation of sound in any way. I normally have the factory ML system selected as my sound source, but the kit works through the ML system without issue.
The screen seems to be a little cleaner and of course touch. However, I have gotten comfortable with the joystick and use it 9% of the time to avoid seeing fingerprints on the screen.
I called Hamilton twice during the process and they 1) answered the phone 2) answered my questions and 3) were pleasant to deal with. Also, during the ordering process, they are responsive and communicative.
No rattles, total factory control integration, touch screen, good connectivity, great sound and no change to cabin esthetics .

Apple car play was not available on my 21 LX. I finally ordered the Hamilton complete unit and very happy I did, I was worried about the install, but I had no problems.

The recommended third party installer did a great job. So far so good. The product easily integrated into the system allowing me to retain the original functionality (XM satellite radio, FM/AM) and then modern ease and functionality of Apple Car play.

The addition of CarPlay is awesome and brings the infotainment system into the modern day. The touchscreen is vivid, crisp, and very responsive. It takes about 30 seconds to boot and automatically start up CarPlay. Once booted, there's no perceivable lag and sound quality is the same as when connected through the OEM infotainment. The OEM integration with cameras, climate and volume overlays, as well as the ability to quickly switch back and forth are awesome. Install was straightforward and the instructions were clear.
My only complaint is that there's a slight audio lag and wish there was a way to adjust for this like on home audio receivers to sync the timing of the display and sound. Well worth it and you won't regret it. Support has been great so far and really speaks to the company itself.

Install was mostly straight forward, had trouble getting the factory head unit back in, the problem was the cables going up to the screen, not much room for them and they need to be spread out or it won’t fit. The video was a little unclear on all of the connections and some of the labels have changed since the video was made, but things can only plug in one way, if you go slow it’s pretty intuitive. As for the unit itself, it is amazing, it looks factory Lexus, the joystick works in CarPlay and factory side. Sound is phenomenal through the Mark Levinson system, all factory steering wheel buttons work. If you are looking to add modern tech to your LX, this is the way. We were going to upgrade the the newer LX600, but now we aren’t.

From built quality and stable OS and functionality, this is the far best aftermarket CarPlay and Android Auto unit on the market. Adding touch screen option to LX570 is just icing on the cake! There is just simply nothing on the market came to close to this upgrade unit. As far as the value, adding No. 1 rated tech support team, it worth every penny, period!

The Hamilton conversion kit is hands down the best upgrade currently available for the LX570. The touchscreen features and capabilities are excellent—modern, intuitive, and a huge leap forward from the stock system. Installation was relatively straightforward, and I was pleasantly surprised at how seamlessly it integrated into the vehicle.
That said, the system isn’t perfect. The biggest drawback is the startup time: it takes about 30 seconds for the system to fully boot, and then another 15 seconds to reconnect to the last paired Bluetooth device. In day-to-day use, this feels slow compared to other OEM systems. Another inconvenience is switching between phones—since my wife drives the car daily but I like to connect when we’re all together as a family, swapping devices is more of a hassle than it should be. Our solution so far is to have her to connect the system using the USB cable while I use bluetooth connections.
Overall, despite those quirks, this is still the best solution on the market. If you want a modern infotainment experience in your LX570, the Hamilton kit delivers—just be prepared for a little patience when starting up and connecting devices.

I did install today. While I did install I also removed a beat sonic unit (wired version) which I had for 2-3 years.
I went slow the install took me around 4-5hrs. This included removing the beat sonic unit and also wired USB/Sim Card cord into my glove box… which took an extra hour+ or so. The online video is fantastic. It’s not hard, just take your time. The screen quality and functionality is awesome.
My top plus’s over best sonic unit:
1) Improved sound quality.
2) High end resolution and touch screen
3) Wireless and Wired Car Play
4) Volume change shows on CarPlay screen
5) Temp Change Shows on CarPlay screen
This is in fact a brilliant design and architecture. Just had the product installed about 3 days now and am continuing to be impressed daily. My 2016 Lexus LX 570, as everyone in my year range, went end of life and functionality having the 3G chip installed back in 2022. This really limited capability as far as user experience, applications, a limited Nav. and upgradability. When i found this product was surprised. The value of what you get in both the product and company is worth far more than the initial cost and that includes installation which was minimal in my area. I also added remote start from another provider and have ALL the functionality plus much more than the Lexus ever had day one.
Flawless to connect multiple phones (i have iPhones). You have full CarPlay. I even experimented with an iPhone i have with beta IOS26 and connected flawlessly although who knows what the final IOS26 will have.
I cannot say enough about the American based pre-sell support team quality and responsiveness and the fact the product is made in the USA and used bullet proof components (at least so far). Id do commercials for this Company and looking forward to a much improved Tech experience in my vehicle. I'm hoping post sale Tech Support is as impressive if i ever need to use them.
Purchased the 2016-2021 Lexus LX Hamilton Premium Conversion Kit for CarPlay® and Android Auto™ for my 2016 Lexus LX570. Had a semi-local installer perform the install. Whether you're really into new tech like me or not, the way this product is architected and engineered is just brilliant, and fascinating yet very simple in concept. Having a 2016 Lexus LX, i lost all services that relied upon cell service in 2022 because Lexus was still using the 3G chipset. 3G went end of life. This product really brings that back, with the partner of your cell device (Iphone or Android) , to essentially make up for the lost functionality plus much more. Anything that is available on Carplay you can now have much more simply and easily in the Hamilton's product. Priced reasonably for functionality. Only had it 3 days, so hoping upgrading etc is just as flawless as the install went. The pre-sell was impressive, any question i had and i do mean any... was answered promptly by North Carolina staff. BTW.. pair this with a remote start kit from some other manufacturer (not Hamilton) and you get all your capability you lost with Lexus plus more. Congrats to Hamilton, keep up the technology please, make upgrading flawless and simple so it can be owner managed and be agile with upgrades to keep up with Apple and Android releases. Learn from the mistake of Lexus by not cornering yourself into older Tech. Well worth the money. I would do commercials all day long for this company.
