Will this Lexus GS kit preserve factory functionality including my backup camera?
Yes, the Lexus GS Hamilton Upgrade Kit will preserve factory functionality including your backup camera, steering wheel controls, and factory mouse. Shifting to reverse while in CarPlay will show the backup camera. Shifting back to drive will return right back to CarPlay.
Will I still be able to access my factory screen?
By long holding the "menu" button in front of your mouse you can toggle between your factory interface and the new Hamilton interface at anytime.
Does this kit have Android Auto also?
Yes, the Lexus GS Hamilton Upgrade Kit comes with wireless and wired Apple CarPlay and Android auto software features built-in. No adapters are required.
Which trim version do I have/why is this important?
We need you to select "Base" or "Premium/F-Sport" solely based on the below image of your original Lexus screen. It is important that you select the right one so we can pre-load the correct software onto your unit. If you accidentally select the wrong one, you can contact customer service after installing, and we can help adjust your software. It is not a big deal if you make a mistake, but it is helpful to get it right the first time!
Can I use FM, XM, or AM radio while CarPlay/Android Auto is showing on the screen? Are all factory audio channels still available?
You can use your factory radio channels and have CarPlay/Android Auto showing on your screen with the Hamilton Upgrade Kits with one important limitation: Please note that the factory radio channels are sealed channels. This means Siri cannot talk through these channels.
When you are streaming audio via CarPlay (e.g. Spotify, Apple Music, Sirius App, etc.), your music and Siri/Navigation will come out of your vehicle speakers mixed together.
However, while using the sealed factory radio channels, you will only be able to hear radio audio. System audio (Siri, navigation sounds, phone calls) cannot be mixed into the factory radio channels.
Note: You will not be able to use the AUX port for any external media devices liked DACs or MP3 players. The Hamilton Upgrade Kit consumes this audio input for CarPlay/Android Auto.
